Importing songs and recognizing documents
Preview before saving, ProPresenter, OpenSong and creating a song from a file.
Choose the right import type
Available paths depend on version and platform. The current web importer can prepare content from selected ProPresenter and OpenSong files. A separate Media workflow can create a song from a document. This is not a live connection to an external library.
Import only materials your organization has rights to use. Always review the result: slide structure, repetitions, chords and authorship may need correction. Successfully opening a file does not guarantee a faithful reproduction of its visual layout.
Import ProPresenter and OpenSong files
- In Library, choose Import and select supported files.
- Wait for the preview and check errors for individual entries.
- Compare titles, sections, arrangements and warnings about similar existing songs.
- Select only the entries you want to add; edit their titles if needed.
- Check options for retaining the original and unique fragments if available.
- Confirm and review the saved songs in the Library.
Content and sequence rather than slide appearance
The importer focuses on text, song parts, order and available metadata. It does not reproduce fonts, animations, backgrounds or full slide staging. A duplicate warning is a decision aid, not an automatic merge.
The unique-fragments option may keep one copy of identical section content while preserving repetitions in the sequence. If you need all original fragments, check this option before saving. Where retained, the original attachment remains a separate file.
Create a song from a document on the web
- Open a supported file in Media and choose to create a song.
- For a PDF, specify the starting page and range available in the form.
- Choose text with metadata or metadata only, according to your goal.
- Run recognition and compare the suggested result with the original.
- Correct the title, authorship, key and content before saving the song.
Recognition results need checking
Recognizing text from a scan is not recognizing musical notation. The app does not reliably determine a key from a staff. If conversion is uncertain, it may reject the result and leave the source document available without creating an incorrect song.
Newer mobile versions have a separate import scope; do not assume OCR or excerpt selection is available. If a path is missing from the app, import using a supported web client. Do not expect the hidden Planning Center connection to return.
